Brother Matt Kronyak was elected Vice General Chairman by acclamation on May 22, 2007. Before he was voted to hold this position by the General Committee Delegates, Brother Matt was elected Alternate Vice General Chairman of this General Committee on May 25, 2004. Matt Kronyak also serves the Conrail SAA/CSXT Northern District General Committee as Chairman, Local Division 235, representing Members on Conrail Shared Assets and the Northern District of CSX Transportation Corporation, and has held a variety of elected BLET Union Offices since he began work for the railroad.

Brother Kronyak hired out on Conrail on February 23, 1993, attended Engineer Training School in Conway, PA, and was promoted to Locomotive Engineer on May 26, 1995. When Conrail split in 1999, Brother Kronyak chose to work for CSX.

Brother Matt is an active Member of BLET Local Division 235, and as such has been reelected by acclamation to Local Chairman three (3) times by his Local Division.

Matt Kronyak has successfully completed both the Local Chairmen's Workshop and the Advanced Local Chairmen's Workshop at The George Meany Center for Labor Studies - The National Labor College Training, Silver Spring, Maryland, and will attend the General Chairmen's Workshop in the near future.

Brother Kronyak has been married to the former Cathy Schiefer for nearly twenty years, and he and his wife are the proud parents of a teenage son, Matthew. Matt, Cathy and Matthew Kronyak make their home in Stanhope, New Jersey. The Kronyak Family has lived in the state of New Jersey for all their lives.
